Rescue me

This is Moonshine Rose. She is a rescue. When I first met this horse I was broken in my faith of being able to ride or handle any horse. I had been throw off of a spooked horse a week or so before this picture was taken.  Moonshine was not mine at the time, I was thinking about it but thought for sure I cant handle a horse so wild as this one. well I waited and like most things I lost the chance to take her, or at least I thought......
This is us today. I have had Moonshine For about 2 mo and after 2 different owners Moonshine and I finally got to have our chance. I am the only one that has been able to tame this scared little sweetie. You see Moonshine is a churro Indian rescue. She was badly beaten and abused and left to hag on a high post for 5 hrs. She has a heart of gold but she is so afraid of every thing.
When I first got Moonshine I was told I was crazy, she is insane, your goanna get your self killed. She will never be safe to be around. Tons of negative feedback. Today people just look at me in surprise. You see I am a greenhorn. The man you saw in the picture. Another greenhorn. I have been around horses for exactly 7 months. when I took Moonshine on it was less.   I was told to put drag ropes on her, tie her to posts you whips and crops for training. but I would hear none of that. My way is slow but it works I have gained her trust through patience and repetition. My Moonshine has come a long way. People say that she is my rescue but the truth is I am her's.

Happy Horse loving

Happy Happy Happy is the woman with less chores

SO.. I have not blogged in forever. Once we got through the holidays and then the 5 birthdays that are in the beginning of the year I was just plan tired. I decided to give up all social medias for Lent this year and boy what a refreshing feeling. I started to notice that everyone was always on their cells. texting, surfing, texting, surfing. I started to see that I had way more free time. In fact I think that I have slowed down and don't really care to be on the tech stuff that much anymore . Its crazy but Lent helped me break the habit. So I am now on just here and there. SO off  we go at a slower pace

Thanksgiving madness

hello all, it is my favorite time of year, Fall we love Fall, Harvest, Thanksgiving time around here.

We have lots of activities planned for fall; beside the awesome tot packets I have found on Pintrest, we are doing tons of Thanksgiving crafts and activities to help us be thankful for all the blessings we have. Our family kicked off Nov by going to see Free Birds at the drive in, it was a vey cute movie and lots of fun!

I went to Michael and pick up a few Thanksgiving craft packs, (they are on sale you know)

next we did so peanut butter cookies and instead of putting  kisses on them we put peanut butter cup yummy!!

I also pick up a pack of Fall table scatter for my girls to use a counters and manipulative!

I first had my 2 yr old take the fall scatter and transfer them from one dish to another with a spoon, then I had her sort out all the apples into one container, then all the green apples and leafs and so on.

My 3 year old sorted all of them by color and type green leafs, green apples, red apples, orange leafs.

Then she did patterns with them she did AB, ABB, AAB and ABC patterns. if you are not sure what that means here is an example of an ABC pattern  A-Leaf B-Green apple C-Red apple.

stay tuned for more activities for fall !!
God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving

Bubble snakes

Home made bubble snakes are such  cool alternative to just plan bubble blowing. Step 1 is to make bubbles click here for bubble recipe. step 2 you need to cut the ends off of soda bottles or water bottles. step 3 get wash rags and lay over cut end of bottle secure wash rag with hair tie or rubber band.

step 4 dip in bubbles and have child blow Warning make sure you watch your children closely, if they suck in they can inhale tones of soap. My small toddlers did not get the concept of blowing at first and were sucking in, that resulted in a big mouth of soaps and lots of tears. I could not tell they were sucking in, so watch ten show them and make sure you are sure the are blowing and not sucking!! ahhhh

My girls had fun trying to get the bubbles to form a snake.

even my littlest got a small snake out!!

Happy bubble blowing!!!

                          Letter stones

These are the letter stones that I was talking about in my sight word stones post. I use these for my pre school kids as well as spelling a spelling aid for my 1st grader.

Here you see my 2 yr old is matching the letter stones to the word octopus , that goes with the letter o that we are learning this week.

These were super simple to make but a bit time consuming so if you can talk older kids, brothers or sisters, grandmas, or hubby's into helping with the sticking, it could go a lot faster. Note you have to make more then just one of each letter at least 2 of each letter here to make sure you have enough.

letter stone uses:
spelling practice
letter recognition
uppercase, lower case letter match
letter match
letter sort
letter go fish
letter dig, done in sand box or bucket of rainbow rice
letter stones are awesome my kids love them. I love them too. Happy letter stone making
